For Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month 2013, Teaching for Change launches a campaign to teach about Central America

Put Central America on the Map in Schools. More than 3 million Central Americans reside in the United States today, yet the lack of resources in most schools on Central America renders the rich history and literature of the region invisible. Also missing from the curriculum is the direct connection between US foreign policy and Central American immigration to the United States. For Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month, Teaching for Change encourages teaching about Central America and provides support to schools with a variety of classroom resources. Teaching for Change offers an introductory slide show, lessons, book lists, biographies, poetry, and other resources that teachers can access online for free.
